RestrainingIn March 2012, the SIA announced the requirement for all existing Door Supervisors (pre-2012) who had achieved the pre-QCF Door Supervision qualification (for example the National Certificate for Door Supervision) to undertake additional training in order to renew their licence.

The new qualification, as of January 2015, is run over 2 days and comprises of two mandatory units:

Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry:

Assessed by a practical test and a written True/False test which is set by Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance and marked by the tutor.

Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors:

Assessed by a 15 question multiple-choice examination which is also set byHighfield Awarding Body for Compliance and marked by the tutor. The new Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors unit covers the following subjects within the security sector:

  • Understand counter terrorism issues relevant to a door supervisor.
  • Know the role of a door supervisor when first aid situations occur in licensed premises.
  • Know legislation and requirements regarding children and young people relevant to a door supervisor.
  • Understand how a door supervisor can help to keep vulnerable people safe.
  • Understand queue management and venue capacity responsibilities relevant to a door supervisor.

This course is available from £100 + VAT per person.

An optional unit of Advanced Physical Intervention is available for any candidate wishing to take part. We currently deliver McCormack Training Ltd Advanced Physical Intervention. This system has been independently risked assessed by the Institute of Conflict Management. This is the first system of techniques to be certificated and endorsed by NOCN. The advanced Physical intervention will be at an additional cost of £40 + VAT.
